公司简介的内容主要是宣传介绍有关公司经营宗旨、业务性质和范围及其性质，同时还 介绍企业本身的背景、历史和经营成就，以扩大对外影响，提高企业的知名度，特别是在新客 户和潜在客户中树立企业的形象。因此，其语言应当具备“自我推销”能力与强烈的“鼓动性”。 中文的企业介绍多采用叙述文体，语言比较规范，介绍中应该包含一些实质性的信息，例如： 企业的经营性质和目的、厂房占地面积、产品介绍、联系电话、传真、联络人等⑴。
英文的公司介绍在结构上通常包括公司概述(introduction),业务范围(what we do)、质 量认证(quality certificate, QA)以及结束语(closing)等，涉及内容包括公司成立时间、公 司地点、产品、隶属企业、技术力量、生产经验、产品销售、取得荣誉即质量认证等。
1. 选词具有鼓动性
英文公司介绍的语言一般较为简洁明了，重点突出，层次分明，前呼后应，试图通过影 响读者的感情让读者接受信息并在行动上做出反应。翻译时，一定要选择富有鼓动性的词。
如：南京化学厂具有近四十年的建厂史，专业生产牙膏，现为省级企业，具有年生产牙 膏8000万支以上的生产能力同。
译文：The Nanjin Chemical Plant (NCP), specializes in making toothpastes, has a production capacity of eighty million tubes a year. It prides itself on a history for nearly forty years and its present position of ranking among the top enterprises of toothpastes-making in Jiangsu Province.
原文中的"有近四十年的建厂史"若简单译为u has a history of nearly forty years "译文将 显得平淡乏味，不易留下印象，在译语语境中也就达不到宣传的功能。译文应用拟人法，选择 富有鼓动性的词组“pride... on”更能吸引读者的注意力。
2. 公司介绍的翻译技巧
对公司介绍的翻译力求准确、完整、全面，这样才能真正克服语言障碍，促进贸易发展。 简洁、达意、交待清楚企业的基本信息是翻译此类企业资料的基准。
(1) 信息对等
在进行公司介绍的翻译时，信息要忠实于原文，无论采取直译还是意译信息都要对等。
例如：国营南江友谊商业公司成立于1985年，是南江控股(集团)有限责任公司下属子 公司，专门从事对外劳务输岀。
译文：Established in 1985, Friendship Business Corporation is a state-owned company subordinate to Southriver Holding (Group) Co., Ltd. specialized in exporting labor.
此句直接采用直译的方法，将句子按字面意思直接翻译过来，与原信息相等。
例：公司产品设计时尚、质量可靠、市场反应迅速。产品材料以无纺布料为主，产品包 括无纺布袋、礼品袋等。
原译： The company product design fashion, the quality reliable, the market response is rapid. The company product material by the adhesive-bonded cotton material primarily, the product including the adhesive-bonded cloth fair bag, the present bag, etc.
该公司的英文简介为真正的“直译”，译文生硬晦涩，伴有明显的语法错误现象。整个译 文几乎完全失去了其应有的经济价值。
改译：The products of our company, with active market, are characterized by fashionable design and reliable quality. They are mainly made of adhesive-bonded fabric, which include adhesive -bonded fabric bags, gift packages, etc.
此句更多采用意译的方法，与原文信息对等。
（2） 程式化用语
公司介绍的语言和市场营销紧密结合，既要照顾主题因素（企业——贸易实体），力求准 确、平实、简明、精炼，运用专业术语和习惯用法，注意科学性和逻辑性，又要尽量浅显确切， 提供实质性信息。针对这些内容，一般有以下这些常见的表达方式：
1） 主要经营 engage in, handle a large range of business including...
2） 奉行/坚持 原则;以 宗旨 hold/abide by the principles of..., adhere to the aims
of..., follow the tenet of..., based by the motto of the company, with the enterprise spirit of...

（3） 标语口号式翻译
标语口号文字一般位于正文结尾，多为一个词、一个短语或一句话，具有简短、醒目的 特点，起到画龙点睛的作用。翻译时通常需要根据英语的语言特点进行词性转换及结构调整。 汉英表现法的重要特征之一就是，英语注重使用名词，汉语注重使用动词。因此，在翻译中必 须进行调整。标语口号式的文字在汉语中常常是主谓结构，但英语中则习惯用名词结构。
例：质量第一，信誉第一，服务至上，平等互利。
译文：Quality Primacy, High Reputation; Service Supermacy, Equality and Mutual Benefit. 例；严管理，高品质，讲信誉，重服务

（4） 句式多样化译法
公司简介常由零句组成，一个短句接一个短句，流泻铺排，形散神聚，呈典型的流散形 句式，然而英语讲求结构的完整和严密。因此，翻译时常常要把一个由数个零句分散组成的汉 语句子缩合成完整严密的英语句子。在企业简介英译中普遍采用的手段有：以“with”引导的 介词短语：分词；从句。
① 以“with”引导的介词短语：
例： 下属20多家公司，总资产达80亿人民币
译文：There are altogether move than 20 sub-companies under it with a total asset of 8 billion RMB yuan...
② 现在分词和过去分词
例：珠海迪蒙贸易有限公司是经珠海市外经委批准成立的具有进出口经营权的法人企业。 译文： Approved by the council of Foreign Economic Relations and Trade of Zhuhai; Zhuhai Dementradind Co. LTD is a foreign trade enterprise possessing the state of legal body.
③ 从句
例：公司设备先进。拥有中国第一条现代化生产线。
译文：The corporation is equipped with advanced facilities, among which is China's first modem production line.
（5） 保持译文风格
由于民族风格、文化背景、时代特点和经营特色、产品特点等各不相同，这就要求在翻 译过程当中要深入了解所介绍公司的情况，抓住特色要点，正确表达。必要时采用意译法。
例如：（宾馆）濒临海湾，环境幽静，花园小径，绿草如茵。
译文：It lies on a cove in a peaceful environment, where villas, gardens, and paths are all exquisitely arranged with flowers and lawns.
四字结构的汉语在译成英语时，用一个带有定语从句的符合句翻译，既符合英语表达习 惯，又易于理解。
在保持译文内容的正确性同时，要注意译出相应业务文献的文体风格，尤其是对公司的 介绍要使用相对正式的语言。因为作为公司的介绍，用词要多以褒义词或中性词为先，但不能 夸大，涉及到的数据要准确。
例如：The Group has a general assets of 12.1 billion RMB, annual turnover 11.7 billion RMB, annual trading value 3 billion RMB.

1. 产品说明书的翻译技巧
根据以上所述产品说明书的语言特点，一般来说，在翻译时要注意以下几点：
（1） 保持其技术和知识的传播性
说明书起着传播技术和知识的作用，介绍机件的工作原理或者产品的功能、主要技术参 数或者主要成分构成。在翻译时，不得出现随意更改、漏译、误译，必须忠实于原文。
例如：This machine is equipped with a gear transmission mechanism, and its multi-dies are arranged in line. It can draw steel, aluminum, brass and other kinds of metal wires.
译文：本机采用齿轮变速传动结构，串联组成多模连续拉丝机，可拉拔钢、铝或黄铜等 金属线材。
（2） 注意语言的可读性和感染力
由于说明书对广告具有辅助作用，其语言要做到通俗易懂，适当时候可以运用一些文学 语言，以完成其广告效应。但同时又要注意不要过分夸大。
例如：Add sugar and milk to taste.
译文：加入适量的牛奶和糖，味道更佳。

2. 英语产品说明书中的常用句型
句型是语言结构的要素，因此熟悉英文产品说明书中的常见句型对成功地翻译原文十分 必要。
（1） （情态动词）be +形容词/过去分词+目的状语
该句型主要用于文章的开头，说明该产品的用途。例如：
The product is used for creating your own hair style special for creating your look and shaping beautiful hair.
译文：使用本品能将头发随意梳理定型，彰显个性，秀发出众。

（2） （情态动词+） be+介词短语
这种句型用于说明物体的特征、状态和范围，以及计量单位等。例如：

② The wiring should be in good condition and core flex should not be exposed. 译文：这些配线必须完好无缺，中心导体不得裸露。
(3) be+形容词+介词短语
Motor pulley is provided with taper sleeve so as to be easy in installing and dismounting it. 译文：电机皮带轮上备有锥套，便于安装和拆卸。
(4) 现在分词+名词

(1)机电产品说明书
机电产品说明书主要用于帮助使用者掌握该设备的操作方法，包括用途、产品规格、操 作须知、维护及保养等。
a. 对用途的说明
These versatile wheeled tractors are reliable enough to tackle a variety of field jobs such as ploughing, harrowing, seed drilling, cultivating, harvesting, etc.
译文：这种多用途轮式拖拉机适用于犁、耙、播种、中耕、收割等多种田间作业。
b. 对产品规格的描述
Processing range: 6.5mm~2.4mm output: 3.5t/shifit~5 t /shift
译文：加工范围：6.5毫米〜2.4毫米 输出功率：3.5吨/转〜5吨/转
c. 对设备特点的说明
Simple construction, easy operation and maintenance, comparatively high productivity.
译文：结构简单，操作容易，维修方便，生产率较高。
d. 故障排除
Trouble: The shaver does not work when the ON/OFF button is pressed.
Solution: Replace the batteries. If the shaver still does not work, see ''Guarantee & Service^^.
译文：问题：按下按钮开关后剃须刀不工作。

e. 安全警示说明
Prevent the appliance from getting wet.

f. 操作说明

(2) 食品类说明书
食品是人类生存不可缺少的，食品说明应包括产品的构成成分、食用方法、保健作用、 保质期、存放方法等。
a. 食品成分
Ingredients: fresh beef of high quality, sugar, chilly oil, sesame oil, salt, condiments.
